Archbishop Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate department for external church relations, who is in Geneva for a meeting of the Inter-Orthodox Commission for Preparing a Holy and Great Council of the Orthodox Church, met on December 11 with the rector of the University of Fribourg, the Rev. Prof. Guido Vergauwen. Participating in the talk was also Barbara Hallensleben, professor of dogmatics at the university’s Faculty of Theology.

Archbishop Hilarion, who is a privat-docent of the University of Fribourg, told his colleagues from Fribourg about the work of Sts Cyril and Methodius’s Post-Graduate and Doctoral School which he was appointed to lead in March 2009.

They discussed a wide range of issues concerning cooperation between the University of Fribourg and the Church Post-Graduate and Doctoral School and agreed to launch an exchange of faculty and students. A cooperation agreement is to be worked out and signed in the nearest future.
