Activities of non-governmental organizations and cooperation with the Alliance of Civilization are discussed at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs

On 26 November 2009, the interdepartmental working groups of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs discussed the activities of non-governmental organizations and cooperation with the Alliance of Civilizations.

The Russian Orthodox Church was represented by the DECR acting secretary for far-abroad countries Rev. Sergy Zvonarev and acting representative of the Moscow Patriarchate at the USA Very Rev. Alexander Abramov.

Discussed at the meeting was a possible participation of the Russian non-governmental organizations in the work of UN agencies. The participants shared their views on the implementation of the initiative of the Alliance of Civilizations. The priests presented position of the Church on the prospects of the Alliance and her participation in the initiative.
