Prof. S. Firsov of St. Petersburg State University, a prominent researcher into the history of the Russian Orthodox Church, gave lectures to students of the Church’s post-graduate and doctoral school on November 11 and 12, 2009.

His first lecture was a survey of relationships between the two Russian Orthodox saints – Emperor Nicholas II and St. John of Kronstadt. He spoke in detail about the reverence that the last Russian monarch showed in his life time for the pastor honoured by the whole Russia.

His second lecture was devoted to the marginalization of religious consciousness in Russia and the problem of semi-Orthodox myth–creation.

After his lectures the professor answers numerous questions from students.
