Metropolitan Amphilohije of Montenegro and the Coastlands takes part in the unveiling of the monument to Alexander Pushkin in Belgrade

On 19 October 2009, the monument to Alexander Pushkin, a gift from the Russian Union of Writers, was unveiled in Belgrade.

The two-meters-high bronze monument, made by a Moscow sculptor Nikolai Kuznetsov-Muromsky, was mounted on a granite pedestal in the city part named after a linguist, ethnographer, historian and major reformer of the Serbian language Vuk Karadzic.

Website of the Serbian Orthodox Church reports that present at the unveiling were Metropolitan Amphilohije of Montenegro and the Coastlands, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in Serbia Alexander Konuzin, deputy mayor of Belgrade Milan Krkobabich, and other distinguished guests.

The monument to Pushkin stands near the monuments to Vuk Karadzic and Ss Cyril and Methodius Equal-to-the-Apostles, the Enlighteners of the Slavs.
