In the evening of April 25, 2013, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, visited the Embassy of Russia in Germany and attended the cultural and historical exhibition dedicated to joint military operations of the Russian and Prussian armies in the years of 1813-1814.

After that, Metropolitan Hilarion met with Mr. Vladimir Grinin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Federal Republic of Germany, who gave dinner in honour of the high guest. The DECR chairman and the head of the Russian diplomatic mission in Berlin discussed a wide range of issues, pertaining to the relationships between the people of Russia and Germany, and outlined prospects for cooperation.

Taking part in the meeting were also Archbishop Feofan of Berlin and Germany; Archbishop Longin of Klin, representative of the Russian Orthodox Church in Germany; archpriest Sergiy Zvonarev, DECR secretary for far abroad countries; hegumen Daniel (Irbits), abbot of the Monastery of St George in Götschendorf; and protodeacon Vitaliy Sedakov.

On April 26, Metropolitan Hilarion departed for Moscow. Seeing him off at the airport was Archbishop Feofan of Berlin and Germany.
