Liturgy of St. James celebrated in Lisbon
The Liturgy of St. James, the Lord’s brother and the first bishop of Jerusalem, was celebrated on 5 November 2009 at the Moscow Patriarchate Parish of All Saints in Lisbon, Portugal.
The Liturgy of St. James was first translated into Church Slavonic in 1938 in the Russian Church Outside Russia.
In the 70s, with the blessing of ever-remembered Metropolitan Nikodim (Rotov) of Leningrad and Novgorod, the Liturgy of St. James began to be celebrated in the chapel of the Leningrad Theological Academy. At present, this ancient liturgy is celebrated in many churches and monasteries of the Russian Orthodox Church.
