Archbishop Hilarion meets with Russian and Greek diplomats at the Gracanica Monastery
On 29 October 2009, the Chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate Department for External Church Relations Archbishop Hilarion of Volokolamsk, on a visit to Kosovo and Metochia at the invitation of Bishop Artemije of Raska-Prizren and Kosovo-Metochia, met with the chancellor of the Russian Embassy in Serbia A. Shuturov and the head of the Bureau of Greece in Pristina accredited at the UN Mission in Kosovo D. Moshopoulos. Bishop Artemije of Raska-Prizren and Kosovo-Metochia also took part in the meeting.
The participants discussed the political situation in Kosovo and Metochia, the situation of the Serbs and the Serbian Orthodox Church, and the problem of preserving spiritual and cultural heritage of this ancient Orthodox land in Europe. They also discussed a possible cooperation among the fraternal Orthodox nations in keeping monastic life in the region.
On the initiative of Bishop Artemije the participants were introduced to the “Kosovo and Metochia” presentation dedicated to the tragic events in the region during the last decade.
