Prayer service for defence of faith celebrated at the Trinity Cathedral of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem

On St. Thomas Sunday, 22 April 2012, hegumen Feofan (Lukianov), deputy head of the Mission, officiated at the Divine Liturgy at the Trinity Cathedral. After the Liturgy, prayer service for defence of faith, the profaned shrines, the Church and her good name was celebrated. The Appeal of the Supreme Church Council of the Russian Orthodox Church dated 3 April 2012 was read out.

Hegumen Feofan addressed the congregation saying, “The strength of the Church lies not in human efforts, but in her unity and in the power of God, as the Lord said: ‘Where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them’ (Mt 18:20). Christ gives us strength and wisdom and protects all those who suffer and defend the truths of Christian faith.”
