Patriarch Kirill marks the Day of Solovki Saints’ Assembly with Divine Liturgy at Cathedral of Transfiguration in Solovki monastery

His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia celebrated the Divine Liturgy on August 22, the Day of the Assembly of the Solovki Saints, at the Cathedral of the Holy Transfiguration in the Solovki Stauropegial Monastery.

He was assisted by a great assembly of ruling bishops, heads of Synodal departments in holy orders and clergy.

During the liturgy, he gave liturgical awards to several monks of the monastery.

Addressing the congregation, His Holiness summed up his visit to Solovki Archipelago, saying in particular, ‘Let the divine gift of spiritual peace, tranquillity, prayer and inner freedom in Christ, which we all together have experienced on Solovki Islands help up take this feeling through the thorny paths of our life. May the Lord preserve the Solovki monastery and all those who come to venerate the Solovki shrines with faith, hope and love’.
