Patriarchal Exarch for South-East Asia meets with Indonesia’s minister of religious affairs
On 11 March 2020, Metropolitan Sergiy of Singapore and South-East Asia, Patriarchal Exarch for South-East Asia, met with the Indonesian Minister of Religious Affairs, Mr. Fahrul Razi.
Metropolitan Sergiy extended congratulation to Mr. Razi on this appointment in October 2019 as minister of religious affairs in the largest Muslim country in the world. His Eminence told the minister about the historical presence of the Russian Orthodox Church in Indonesia since the early 20th century and about the present state of Orthodoxy in the country.
During the meeting, which took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere, the sides exchanged opinions on a wide range of issues concerning the development of Russian-Indonesian cooperation in humanitarian and religious spheres and the organization of pastoral care for the Orthodox faithful in Indonesia.
Participating in the talk from the Russian side were also Russian Ambassador to Indonesia Ms. L. Vorobyeva, Counsellor O. Kopylov, the Exarchate secretary Hieromonk Pitirim (Dondenko), and Russian attaché D. Tetyushkin.
