Head of Moscow Patriarchate’s Administration for Institutions Abroad meets with Primate of Orthodox Church of Cyprus
On 28th November 2019, a meeting between Metropolitan Antony of Korsun and Western Europe, head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Administration for Institutions Abroad, and His Beatitude Archbishop Chrysostomos of New Justiniana and All Cyprus took place in Nicosia.
The Russian hierarch conveyed to the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Cyprus brotherly greetings from His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and told about the progress in the construction of the Russian Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in Limassol, expressing his appreciation to the Church of Cyprus for its attention to the spiritual needs of the Russian-speaking believers resident in the island.
The participants in the meeting discussed various issues on the agenda of the inter-church relations.
Taking part in the meeting were also Archpriest Pavel Povalayev, rector of St. Nicholas Parish in Limassol, and Hieromonk Grigory (Sokolov) of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations.
That same day later Metropolitan Antony met with Metropolitan Timotheos of Bostra, representative of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem to Cyprus, and visited the Tamassos diocese, where he was warmly greeted by Metropolitan Isaias of Tamassos and Oreini.
