The work of Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia entitled ‘Freedom and Responsibility: In a Search for Harmony’ has been translated into 26 languages including Chinese and Japanese. The Korean version was prepared under the guidance of the administrator of the Korean Mission of the Russian Church Outside Russia, Archpriest Pavel Kan.

The presentation of the Korean version took place on June 15, 2017, in Seoul. With a blessing of His Holiness, the event held in the Embassy of the Russian Federation in South Korea was attended by administrator of the Moscow Patriarchate parishes in East and South-East Asia Archbishop Sergiy of Solnechnogorsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate administrative secretariat.

‘The peoples of Russia and Korea seek to preserve the tradition and culture, bringing up children in an atmosphere of respect for the moral traditions they have borne through centuries. The book by Patriarch Kirill, which represents a reflection on the notion of freedom based on the Orthodox doctrine and containing a discourse on prospects for building a free world with justice, will be of use to all Koreans who are interested in Russian religious philosophy and history’, Archbishop Sergiy noted in his presentation address.

The publication of the Korean version of Patriarch Kirill’s book has been broadly covered by South Korean mass media.
