On January 24, 2017, the plenary session of the Inter-Council Presence of the Russian Orthodox Church began its second day at the Church Councils Hall of the Church of Christ the Saviour in Moscow. It is chaired by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.

The agenda includes a discussion on the draft document on Canonical Aspects of the Church Marriage. It will be presented by Archpriest Alexander Zadornov, secretary of the canon law commission and pro-rector of Moscow Theological Academy

Opening the meeting, Patriarch Krill pointed to the need to make a decision on a change in the structure of the Inter-Council Presence to make it more effective.

‘It is important that the Inter-Council Presence should carry out its work in full measure between Councils because without its work it is difficult to imagine the full-fledged work of a Bishops’ Council. As the Inter-Council Presence is so important, we should think over some structural changes that could stimulate the Presence’s work and focus it on the problems which needs to be given a serious study’, His Holiness noted.
