Metropolitan Hilarion meets with newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Columbia to the Russian Federation

On 15 December 2016, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations (DECR), received H. E. Alfonso López Caballero, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Columbia to the Russian Federation. Taking part in the meeting was Archpriest Sergy Zvonarev, DECR secretary for the far abroad countries.

Metropolitan Hilarion warmly greeted the guest at the Synodal institution in charge of the relations of the Russian Orthodox Church with the world.

At the request of the highest-ranking diplomat Metropolitan Hilarion told him about the growth and advance of the Russian Orthodox Church in the recent decades, her life in Russia at present and fraternal contacts with the Local Orthodox Churches.

During the talk held in warm atmosphere Metropolitan Hilarion spoke about the life of compatriots in Columbia and the presence of the Russian Church in the country.
