His Beatitude Metropolitan Vladimir of Kiev and All Ukraine consecrates archimandrite Alipy (Kozoly) as Bishop of Dzhankoi and Razdolje
On 14 February 2010, the Sunday of Forgiveness, on which the Meeting of the Lord was celebrated, His Beatitude Metropolitan Vladimir of Kiev and All Ukraine celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Church of s Anthony and Theodosius of the Caves in the Dormition Laura of the Caves in Kiev.
Concelebrating with the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church were Metropolitan Lazar of Simferopol and the Crimea, Archbishops Nikolai of Belgorod, Gury of Zhitomir and Novograd-Volynsky, Pavel of Vyshgorod, Mitrofan of Belaya Tserkov and Boguslav, Bishops Ilary of Makarov, Serafim of Yagotin, Aleksandr of Pereyaslavl-Khmelnitsky, Panteleimon of Vasilkov, and clergymen of the monastery.
Archimandrite Alipy (Kozoly), a cleric of the Simferopol diocese, was consecrated Bishop of Dzhankoi and Razdolje during the Divine service.
The decision to elect archimandrite Alipy Bishop of Dzhankoi was made at the session of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church held at the Dormition Laura in Pochaev on 9 September 2009. That same day archimandrite Alipy was nominated Bishop of Dzhankoi and Razdolje at the Laura Cathedral of the Dormition.
Bishop Alipy, a graduate of the Odessa theological seminary, was born in the village of Kalinovka, Kiev region, in 1971. He took monastic vows in 1993, was ordained hierodeacon that same year, and later was ordained hieromonk. Prior to his consecration, he was rector of the Church of St. Nino Equal-to-the-Apostles in the village of Gaspra in the Crimea, official website of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church reports.
