On 11 December 2015, the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations hosted an expert meeting on Ecological Activities of the Russian Orthodox Church. Ecological Problems in the Context of Inter-Orthodox, Inter-Christian, Interreligious, and International Cooperation.

Taking part in the meeting were members of the DECR expert working group on ecological problems and ecological activities of the Church, as well as representatives of the Moscow Theological Schools and Ss Cyril and Methodius Theological Institute of Postgraduate Studies.

The participants in the meeting focused on theological understanding of today’s ecological challenges and discussed the experience of teaching ecology-related subjects at the educational institutions of the Moscow Patriarchate. The meeting will result in a number of recommendations for promoting church activities in ecological sphere and developing cooperation within the framework of inter-Orthodox, inter-Christian and interfaith dialogues.
