His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia has sent the following message to His Holiness Patriarch Irenaeus of Serbia on the occasion of the commemoration day of St Sava of Serbia.

To His Holiness Irenaeus

Archbishop of Pec, Metropolitan of Belgrade and Karlovcy

Patriarch of Serbia

Your Holiness, Beloved Brother and Concelebrant at God’s Altar:

I wholeheartedly greet you on the occasion of the Day of St Sava of Serbia.

This holy man, who combines the royal dignity of the Nemanjic Dynasty and monastic virtues of God-bearing ascetics of Holy Mount Athos, lived on earth the life of a good soldier of Christ Jesus (2 Tim. 2:3). As the spiritual father of his people, he, even after passing away to the eternal dwellings, remains the heavenly intercessor and patron of all the faithful of the Serbian Orthodox Church founded by him.

Through the intercession of St Sava continuously soliciting at the Throne of the Heavenly Lord, may the Giver of every good thing send His rich blessings to Your Holiness and preserve you in good health, invariably sending you His abundant help in your not easy Patriarchal service.

With brotherly love in Christ,

+ KIRILL

Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia
