Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his condolences on the demise of His Holiness Patriarch Irinej of Serbia in a telegram sent to the President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić.

Dear Mt. President:

Please, accept deepest condolences on the irrevocable loss – the death of His Holiness Patriarch Irinej of Serbia.

The Patriarch’s many years of pastoral activity brought him well-deserved respect in his country and abroad. His efforts aimed at promoting high spiritual values and strengthening the unity of the Orthodox world can hardly be overestimated.

Please, confer words of sincere sympathy and support to the clerics of the Serbian Orthodox Church and the friendly people of Serbia.”
