People in Hungary now can hear of Orthodox faith in Hungarian language
The parish of the church dedicated to the Icon of Our Lady the Life-Giving Spring in Hévíz, western Hungary, has organized online studies in Hungarian for all who wish to be introduced to the basics of the Orthodox faith. The teaching materials will be accessible on the diocesan website in the section ‘HITOKTATÁS’ and in the emails sent to all those who have joined the course.
With a blessing of the rector of the Orthodox parish, Archpriest Nikolay Kim, the Hungarian section of the parish school will be headed by Deacon Stephan Vaino-Eliasz. In addition to theoretical studies, students will be able to acquire practical skills for praying at the common Sunday liturgies (Hours and Short Liturgy, according to the liturgy schedule) in the church under construction and to put questions to Father Stephan.
On September 18, 2020, Mr. Miklós Soltész, Hungary’s Secretary of State for Churches, Minorities and Civil Affairs, visited the town of Hévíz to see the process made in the construction of a Russian Orthodox church dedication to the Mother of God the Life-Giving Spring. In a talk with the Secretary of State, Archpriest Nikolay thanked the Hungarian Government for a considerable financial support for the Russian Church’s diocese of Hungary in restoring several Orthodox churches in the country and building a church in Hévíz.
