Vandals have desecrated two churches of the canonical Church at the Pisarevka and Khoten settlements in the Sumy Region in Ukraine. A report about this crime came in the morning of October 14, 2020, from the Information-Education Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church with reference to the Sumy press service.

Offensive inscriptions made by a black paint were found on a wall of the Church of the Protecting Veil at Pisarevka. Similar inscriptions were made on the fence of the Church of the Dormition at the Khoten settlement.

On account of the act of vandalism, the Orthodox communities turned to law-enforcement bodies and bodies of power.

In the diocese, the faithful were called ‘to intensify vigilance for preventing criminal encroachments and protecting the lawful rights and freedoms of the Orthodox people in the Sumy Region’.
