The Chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate department for external church relations, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, has sent a message of greetings to Metropolitan Daniel of Tokyo and All Japan on the occasion of his name day.

The Most Rev. Daniel

Archbishop of Tokyo

Metropolitan of All Japan

Your Eminence, dear Vladyka,

Kindly accept my cordial congratulations on your name day.

May the intercession of your heavenly patron, the Holy Prince Daniel of Moscow strengthen you in your lofty ministry as First Hierarch of the Japanese Autonomous Orthodox Church, which you have carried out with your characteristic zeal for the house of the Lord (Jn. 2:17).

Emulating the holy prince’s virtues, you show to the faithful of the Church of Christ in the Country of the Raising Sun an image of charity, gentleness and humbleness, calling them not to weaken in feats of faith and in witness to Resurrected Christ so that they may excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in love (2 Cor. 8:7).

I sincerely wish Your Eminence the abandon help of God in your work for the good of Orthodoxy as well as sound health, peace, joy and every blessing from God.

With brotherly love in the Lord,

Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk

Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations
