Representative of the Russian Orthodox Church meets with Russian ambassador of Cambodia
On September 11, 2020, with the blessing of the Patriarchal Exarch for South-East Asia, Metropolitan Sergiy of Singapore and South-East Asia, the acting dean of the District of Cambodia of the Diocese of Thailand and rector of the St. George Church in Phnom Penh Hieromonk Paisiy (Opate) met with the Russian Federation ambassador in Cambodia, A. B. Borovik.
Hieromonk Paisiy conveyed congratulations and good wishes to the newly appointed Russian ambassador in Cambodia from the temporary administrator of the Diocese of Thailand Metropolitan Sergiy of Singapore and South-East Asia and the secretary of the Diocese of Thailand Archimandrite Oleg (Cherepanin), who could not greet the new head of the Russian diplomatic mission personally because of the pandemic.
In their talk they discussed a wide range of issues concerning the Russian-Cambodian cooperation in the humanitarian sphere and the Russian Orthodox Church’s pastoral care for the compatriots and Orthodox Cambodians. They dwelt on the work of the Orthodox communities in Cambodia in the situation of the coronavirus pandemic and educational and charitable projects of the Cambodian deanery. They expressed the wish to develop constructive cooperation between the Russian embassy in Cambodia and the Patriarchal Exarchate of South-East Asia.
