Patriarchal Exarch for Western Europe and head of Archdiocese of Western European Parishes of Russian Tradition celebrate liturgy at Trinity Cathedral in Paris
On 8 June 2020, the Day of the Holy Spirit, at the invitation of Metropolitan Anthony of Cheronesus and Western Europe, Metropolitan John, head of the Archbishop of Western European Parishes of Russian Tradition, visited the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Paris.
On that day, the hierarchs celebrated the festive Divine Liturgy at the cathedral church on Branley embankment, the website of the Diocese of Chersonesus reports.
Among the hierarchs’ concelebrants were Protopresbyter Anatoliy Rakovich, Archpriest Yevgeniy Chapyuk and Protodeacon Ioann Drobot-Tikhonitskiy of the Alexander Nevskiy Cathedral of the archdiocese, as well as Father Maxim Politov, secretary of the Chersonesus diocesan administration. There were also Archpriest Igor Trofim, Rev.George Sheshko, Rev. Sergiy Kim, Protodeacon Nikolay Rebinder and Deacon Roman Onika.
The liturgical hymns were sung by the joined choir of the cathedrals of the Trinity and St. Alexander Nevsky conducted by Ms. M. Politova.
After the liturgy, Metropolitan Anthony thanked His Eminence Ioann for the joy of common prayer and presented the guest with an icon of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
In his response, the head of the Archdiocese of Western European Parishes of Russian Tradition expressed gratitude to Metropolitan Anthony for the invitation to serve at the Trinity Cathedral and once again thanked the Patriarchal Exarch for his active and diligent participation in the unification of the Archdiocese with the Mother Church.
After that the hierarchs and clergy shared a festive meal.
