Representative of Russian Orthodox Church visits Theological Academy of Syrian Orthodox Church

On 13 March 2010, Hegumen Arseny (Sokolov), representative of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia to the Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, visited the Theological seminary of the Syriac Orthodox Church in Saiddnaya, Syria.

A teacher of the Syriac language, Benjamin Aboud told the representative of the Russian Orthodox Church about the educational institution and gave him a tour of the library.

At present, students from different regions of Syria and Iraq are studying at the seminary. A postgraduate student from Russia, Pavel Kuzminykh, is doing work experience in the Syriac by the assignment of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Commission for Student Exchange.

Rev. Arseny presented the library with His Holiness Patriarch Kirill’s book ‘Freedom and Responsibility: A Search for Harmony’ translated into the Arabic language.
