Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk arrives in Belgrade
On 17 February 2020, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations (DECR), arrived in Serbia at the invitation of His Holiness Patriarch Irinej of Serbia and with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.
Metropolitan Hilarion was met at the airport by Bishop Irinej of Bačka, and Bishop David of Kruševac, Archpriest Vitaly Tarasjev, rector of the metochion of the Russian Orthodox Church in Belgrade, and Deacon Miroslav Nikolić from the diocese of Bačka.
The hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church is accompanied by Mr. Andrei Khoshev of the DECR secretariat for inter-Orthodox relations, and sub-deacon Vyacheslav Li.
During his visit Metropolitan Hilarion will visit the Cathedral of St. Sava in Belgrade where a presentation of his book ‘What Do Orthodox Christians Believe’ is due to take place, and deliver a lecture ‘Orthodox Divine Service as a School of Theology and Contemplation of God’ at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology, University of Belgrade.
