Round table on World War Two in Humanitarian Dimension: Experience of Past Years and the Modernity will take place at the Federation Council within the framework of Eighth Christmas Parliamentary Meetings
On 28th January 2020, a round table discussion on World War Two in Humanitarian Dimension: Experience of Past Years and the Modernity will be held at the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation within the framework of the Eighth Christmas Parliamentary Meetings of the 28th International Christmas Educational Readings.
The meeting will be co-chaired by Archbishop Leonid of Vladikavkaz and Alania, vice-chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations; Mr. Alexei Kondratyev, member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation; and Mr. Ikhtiyar Aslanov, head of the Regional Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross for the Russian Federation, Belarus and Moldova.
Taking part in the round table meeting will be representatives of Russia’s Federation Council, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations and the Regional Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross for the Russian Federation, Belarus and Moldova, as well as representatives of the academic community and wider public.
The role of the Church in the Russian people’s victory in the Great Patriotic War, her cooperation with peace-making and charitable organizations, concerted efforts in rendering aid to the suffering, and searches for the missing in action – these and other issues will be raised by speakers during the round table discussion.
The round table will take place at the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Hall 701 (26 Bolshaya Dmitrovka Street, Moscow) from 11:00 to 13:30.
