Metropolitan Onufry of Kiev and All Ukraine meets with Primate of the Orthodox Church of Jerusalem
On 17 May 2019, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry of Kiev and All Ukraine, currently on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, met with His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem.
Patriarch of Jerusalem said that the Orthodox Church was always undergoing trials and was subject to persecution on the part of the secular world. The Ukrainian Church is living through a special period of her history. The faithful of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem always pray to God at the Orthodox holy sites in the Holy Land to keep the Church and her faithful in Ukraine.
The Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church thanked His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos for prayers and conveyed his gratitude to all clergymen and laypersons of the Church of Jerusalem.
During the talk that was held in a warm friendly atmosphere, Patriarch Theophilos III noted that this year many pilgrims from all over the world, including those from Ukraine, visited the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and other holy sites that remind them of the times of the Bible and are linked with the earthly life of the Saviour.
Metropolitan Onufry was accompanied by Bishop Evsevy of Shepetovka and Slavuta, clergymen, monastics and laypersons from Ukraine, the Information and Education Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church reports.
