On 15 October 2018, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, members of the Holy Synods of the Russian Orthodox Church and the Belorussian Orthodox Church met with President Alexander Lukashenko at the Palace of Independence in Minsk.

Attending the meeting was Metropolitan Philaret (Vakhromeyev), honorary Patriarchal Exarch of Belarus.

President Lukashenko greeted those gathered and delivered an introductory speech.

In his address His Holiness Patriarch Kirill spoke about a special role played by Belarus and the Belorussian Orthodox Church. “Belarus’ role on the post-Soviet space is very important, while the Belorussian Orthodox Church is an important integral part of the Moscow Patriarchate. We highly appreciate its role, and the session of the Holy Synod testifies to it.”His Holiness wished Belarus to remain a factor of peace and stability.
