The Primate of the Russian Church lays a wreath at the Victory Monument in Minsk
On October 14, 2018, the Day of the Protecting Veil of the Most Holy Mother of God and Ever Virgin Mary, after a visit to the crypt of the newly consecrated monument church dedicated to All Saints in Minsk, His Holiness Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, laid a wreath at the Victory Monument in Minsk.
The ceremony was attended by A. Shorets, chairman of the city executive committee; M. Babich, Russian ambassador to Belarus; Metropolitan Pavel of Minsk and Zaslavl, Patriarchal Exarch for All Belarus; Metropolitan Vladimir of Kishinev and All Moldova; Metropolitan Varsonofy of St. Petersburg and Ladoga; Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate department for external church relations; and Archbishop Sergiy of Solnechnogorsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate administrative secretariat.
The guards of honour were lined up at Victory Square.
After the laying of the wreath, ‘Eternal Memory’ was sung to commanders and soldiers, for the faith, Motherland and people who gave their lives. Hymns were sung by the bishops’ choir of the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit in Minsk.
The hierarchs and officials laid flowers at the monument.
