On September 25, 2018, with a blessing of His Holiness Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, Metropolitan Hilarion, head of the Moscow Patriarchate department for external church relations, arrived in the Serbian capital city.

On September 26, Metropolitan Hilarion met with His Holiness Irenaeus, Patriarch of Serbia, and members of the Serbian Orthodox Church Holy Synod including Metropolitan Porfirije of Zagreb and Ljubljana, Bishop Irinej of Bac, Bishop Jovan of Sumadija and Bishop Milutin of Valjevo, at the building of the Patriarchate.

During the talk, which was held in a warm fraternal atmosphere, they considered the cooperation between the Russian and the Serbian Orthodox Church and issues of inter-Orthodox interaction.

Participating in the meeting were also Bishop Antonije of Moravici, rector of the Moscow representation of the Serbian Orthodox Church, and Vicar Bishop Stefan of Remesiana.
