DECR chairman meets with Ayatollah Sayyed Mussawi

On August 27, 2018, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate department for external church relations (DECR), received Ayatollah Sayyed Javadi Mussawi, an Iranian academic figure. The guest was accompanied by Mr. Kahraman Suleimani, head of the Iranian cultural representation in Moscow, and Hodjat-al-Islam Akbari Jiddi, representative of the Administration of the Supreme Leader of Iran in Russia.

From the DECR there were Rev. Dimitry Safonov, DECR secretary for interreligious relations, and I. Kashytsin of the same secretariat.

They discussed the religious cooperation between Russia and Iran, which has been maintained for over twenty years as part of the work of the Joint Commission for Orthodoxy-Islam Dialogue. After the talk, the sides exchanged tokens of the meeting.
