Exhibition devoted to the royal passion-bearers opened in South Africa
On July 17, 2018, the commemoration day of the Royal Passion-bearers and the centenary of their martyrdom, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated at the St. Sergius of Radonezh church in Johannesburg. After the service, the opening of an exhibition ‘The Last Romanovs’ was opened at the parish center.
The photo exhibition presenting the photographs from the Romanovs’ personal archives was organized by the Parish of St. Sergius with the support of the Rossotrudnichestvo (Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation) representation in South Africa and the pravoslavie.ru portal.
Along with the parishioners, the opening of the exhibition was attended by Archimandrite Jacobus (van der Riet), a cleric of the Orthodox Church of Alexandria diocese of Johannesburg, and Afrikaners who came to honour the memory of the last Russian tsar. They laid flowers at the Icon of the Royal Passion-bearers and took part with great interest in a talk about the Romanovs family, the website of the St. Sergius church in Johannesburg has reported.
