His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia expressed condolences over the death of people as a result of floods and landslides in Japan. According to the latest information, the death toll has mounted to 200 people.

His Excellency Mr. Shinzo ABE

Prime Minister of Japan

Your Excellency,

Dear Mr. Prime Minister,

Please accept my profound condolences over the death of many people as a result of floods and landslides that hit your country over the last several days.

Great many people have been affected by this rage of nature. A lot of families have lost their homes; a considerable damage has been inflicted on the infrastructure and economy of a number of Japan’s regions. On these days of hardship I am grieving together with the Japanese people.

Lifting up my prayers to the Merciful Lord, I beseech Him to grant consolation to the relatives and friends of the victims, as well as the soonest recovery to the injured and the strength to the authorities and rescuers who are working hard to counteract the effects of this catastrophe.

With sincere condolences,

+KIRILL

PATRIARCH OF MOSCOW AND ALL RUSSIA
