On June 25, 2018, Archbishop Sergiy of Solnechnogorsk, administrator of the Moscow Patriarchate parishes in East and South-East Asia, met with the deputy mayor of the city of Davao, Mr. Bernard Al-ag.

In the course of the meeting, which was held in a warm atmosphere, they discussed a wide range of problems involved in the Russian Orthodox presence in Mindanao Island and the broadening of Russian-Philippian humanitarian contacts.

Participating in the meeting were also Hieromonk Pitirim (Dondenko), senior priest at the church of the Dormition in Singapore; D. Petrovsky, Moscow Patriarchate department for external church relations; D. Karenin, third secretary of the Russian embassy in Philippines, and D. Lavrentyev, secretary of the Russian Orthodox Church’s administrative center in Davao.

On the same day, Archbishop Sergiy presented Patriarchal awards to those who worked for the broadening of the Russian Orthodox presence in Asia, at the Chapel of Blessed Matrona of Moscow in the Russian Orthodox Church’s educational and administrative center in Davao. The jubilee medal marking the centenary of the restoration of patriarchate in the Russian Church was awarded to Hieromonk Korniliy (Molev), a cleric of the Metropolia of Belgorod; Sister Sergiya (Idrisova) of the Convent of the Nativity of the Mother of God in Ussurijsk, and D. Lavrentyev, who are serving at present in Philippines.
