Russian Orthodox bishop attends celebration of the 40th anniversary of consecration of Primate of the Orthodox Church of Cyprus
The 40th anniversary of the episcopal consecration of His Beatitude Chrysostomos II, Archbishop of New Justiniana and All Cyprus was celebrated in Nicosia on February 25, 2018.
Metropolitan Isidor of Smolensk and Dorogobuzh attended celebrations with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and concelebrated with His Beatitude Patriarch Theodoros II of Alexandria and All Africa, His Beatitude Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East and His Beatitude Archbishop Chrysostomos II of Cyprus who officiated at the Divine Liturgy on the Sunday of Orthodoxy.
That same day President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades and representatives of the Local Orthodox Churches attended the meeting of church assembly of the Orthodox Church of Cyprus and official reception given by the Primate of the Church of Cyprus for the high guests. Metropolitan Isidor read out the message of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia conveyed on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Archbishop Chryssotomos’s episcopal consecration.
On February 26, Metropolitan Isidor met with Archbishop Chrysostomos. Bilateral relations between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Orthodox Church of Cyprus were discussed.
