His Holiness Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople extends condolences over the death of people in An-148 jet crash
The Russian people’s grief over the tragic plane crash that claimed the lives of seventy-one people is also the grief of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, which expresses its sincere condolences, praying for the repose of the souls of the victims and for the consolation and strengthening from above of their families, the message sent by His Holiness Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople to His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia reads.
The tragedy occurred in the Moscow Region on 11 February 2018: the Saratov Airlines jet crashed soon after departing from the Domodedovo airport en route to Orsk. 65 passengers and 6 crew members died.
