DECR chairman meets with Italian ambassador to Russia

November 22, 2017 – Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate department for external church relations (DECR) and rector of the Ss Cyril and Methodius Institute of Post-graduate Studies (CMI), met with H. E. Cesare Ragaglini, Italian ambassador to Russia, who is completing his diplomatic mission in Moscow, at the CMI.

Participating in the meeting were Mr. Benedetto Giuntini, political counsellor of the Italian embassy, and Deacon Andrey Titushkin, DECR secretariat for the far abroad.

Metropolitan Hilarion warmly welcomed the head of the Italian diplomatic mission to the Church’s higher education institution and pointed to the long-standing cooperation between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Italian State.

In his turn, Mr. Ragaglini shared positive impressions of his sojourn in Russia and contacts with its people.

In conclusion of the meeting, the sides exchanged tokens of the meeting.
