DECR chairman attends meeting of Organizing Committee of Days of Russia in foreign countries
November 14, 2017 – The Organizing Committee of the Days of Russia in foreign countries, which include religious activities, held a regular meeting at the Russian Federation Ministry of Culture. It was chaired by the committee cochairmen: Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the Department for External Church Relations (DECR), and Ms. Manilova, deputy minister of culture.
The Russian Orthodox Church was represented by Bishop Antoniy of Bogorodsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate office for the institutions abroad, Archpriest Sergiy Zvonarev, DECR secretary for the far abroad, Hierodeacon Yaroslav (Ochkanov), DECR secretariat for the far abroad, and I. Parfenov, head of the continued education center of the Ss Cyril and Methodius Institute of Post-Graduate Studies.
Participating in the meeting from the Ministry of Culture’s side were Ms. O. Andonieva, director of the international cooperation department, Mr. P. Kartashev, her deputy, and A. Ivaschenko, deputy head of the department’s office for foreign countries and work with international organizations.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs was represented by M. Khorev, deputy director of the department for humanitarian cooperation and human rights, and Ms. S. Seregina, first secretary of the department for humanitarian cooperation and human rights.
The meeting considered the improvement of cooperation in implementing the Days of Russia project in foreign countries and proposals coming from the Russian Orthodox Church, the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for activities planned for 2018 and subsequent years.
