November 8, 2017 – A traditional reception for diplomats was held at the Cathedral of the Trinity of the Greek Archdiocese in the USA in New York. This year it was devoted to problems of forced migrants and refugees.

Among the attendees was His Beatitude Tikhon, Metropolitan of All America and Canada, head of the Orthodox Church in America. There were also Archbishop Demetrios, head of the archdiocese of the Patriarchate of Constantinople in USA; Bishop Ioann of Naro-Fominsk, representative of the Russian People’s Council to the UN; Bishop Irenaeus, head of the Serbian jurisdiction in the USA; Archbishop Daniel (Ukrainian diocese of the Patriarchate of Constantinople); Archbishop Michael, Orthodox Church in America; as well as hierarchs of Eastern Churches: Archbishop Khajag Barsamian, Armenian Apostolic Church in the USA; Archbishop Deonysius John Kawak, Syrian Church of Antioch; Archbishop Mor Titus Yeldho, Malankara Syrian Church; Bishop David, Coptic Church in the USA; and representative of the Ethiopian and Eritrean Churches.

After a brief prayer service presided over by Archbishop Demetrios, the participants were greeted by the President of the 72nd Session of the UN General Assembly, Miroslav Lajcak.

After the official part, there was a reception. It was attended by members of the Serbian royal dynasty, hierarchs, clergy and representatives of the UN diplomatic corps, the site of the Moscow Patriarchate representation in the USA reports.
