On 13 October 2017, Hegumen Arseny (Sokolov), representative of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia to the Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, met with H.E. Alexander Zasypkin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Lebanese Republic.

They were joined in the meeting, which took place at the Russian Embassy in Beirut, by Archpriest Anatoly Yegorov, former rector the metochion in Beirut. Discussed were the situation in Lebanon and in the Middle East and coordination of cooperation with different social and political associations of Lebanon, including the Liqaa Orthodoxe, the Lebanese-Russian House, and the Association of Orthodox Families of Beirut.

Hegumen Arseny told the head of the Russian Embassy in Lebanon about the life and work of the Representation of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia to the Patriarch of Antioch and All the East and prospects of its return from Beirut to Damascus.
