On 21-23 September 2017, the 2nd International Forum of Global Christian Leaders, entitled ‘Witnessing Together to the Power of God’s Love in Christ’ took place in Seoul, Republic of Korea. Taking part in the forum was a delegation of the Russian Orthodox Church that included Hieromonk Stefan (Igumnov), secretary for inter-Christian relations of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, and Ms Margarita Nelyubova, DECR staff member.

Discussed at the forum, convened on the initiative of the Protestant churches of East Asia, were prospects of cooperation in the face of present-day challenges, such as the crisis of traditional moral values, persecution of Christians in a number of countries in Africa, Middle East and Asia, as well as the heightening of global tensions. Particular attention was devoted to the situation on the Korean Peninsular. The participants in the forum noted the necessity of strengthening inter-Christian cooperation in the context of increasing secularization of society in a number of European and American countries. Discussed during the meeting were also activities of the World Council of Churches that will celebrate the 70th anniversary of its foundation next year.

Among the participants in the forum were heads of large international inter-Christian organizations and theological educational institutions, as well as representatives of the Protestant and Oriental churches from Europe, USA, China, India, Indonesia, Africa, and the Caribbean countries.
