Russian Orthodox Church hierarchs take part in celebrations devoted to the Suprasl wonderworking Icon of the Mother of God in Poland
August 9, 2017 – With the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and at the invitation of Jakubow, Archbishop of Białystok and Gdańsk, Archbishop Justinian of Elista and Kalmykia arrived in Poland for the celebrations held in the Suprasl monastery, devoted to the Annunciation of the Most Holy Mother of God.
On August 10, the day of the Suprasl wonderworking Icon of the Mother of God, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated by His Beatitude Sava, Metropolitan of Warsaw and All Poland.
The Primate of the Polish Orthodox Church was assisted by Metropolitan Vladimir of Volyn and Kovelsk, Archbishop Justinian of Elista and Kalmykia, Archbishop Savva of Tiraspol and Dubossary, and hierarchs of the Polish Orthodox Church.
After the Reading of the Gospel, Archbishop Justinian, with the blessing of His Beatitude, delivered a sermon.
In conclusion of the service, a procession with the cross took place around the monastery’s cathedral church and the sprinkling of numerous pilgrims with holy water. The hierarchs led by Metropolitan Sava said a prayer for the repose of the dead at the grave of Archbishop Miron (Chodakowski), the first father superior of the revived monastery.
