On 30 March 2017, a session of the Presidential Council for Coordination with Religious Organizations chaired by Mr. Anton Vaino, head of the Presidential Administration, was held in the Kremlin.

Taking part in the session on behalf of the Russian Orthodox Church were Metropolitan Juvenaly of Krutitsy and Kolomna; Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations and head of the Ss Cyril and Methodius Theological Institute of Post-Graduate Studies; and Mr. Vladimir Legoida, chairman of the Synodal Department for Church’s Relations with society and mass media.

Representatives of federal state authority bodies and of religious organizations discussed the development of social ministry and charity activities of religious associations.

In his address Metropolitan Hilarion spoke of the work of the Commission for International Cooperation at the Presidential Council for Coordination with Religious Organizations and of the working group for cooperation with the People’s Republic of China in religious sphere. Also, he touched upon such topics as the return of theology into universities and the development of theological education in Russia.
