Prayers for peace in Syria are offered up at the Representation of the Russian Orthodox Church in Damascus

On 8 February 2017, hegumen Arseny (Sokolov), representative of Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia to Patriarch of Great Antioch and All the East celebrated prayer service for peace in Syria at the church of the Representation of the Russian Orthodox Church in Damascus.

Attending the service were members of a Russian delegation visiting Syria humanitarian mission. The delegation consisted of deputies of the State Duma, medical doctors, and representatives of the “Brothers in Arms’ veterans’ organization.

After the prayer service the delegation accompanied by hegumen Arseny visited the care home for children of the fallen soldiers and the oncology hospital for children. Guests from Russia met with the orphans and inmates of the hospital and distributed humanitarian aid collected by the ‘Brothers in Arms.’
