Metropolitan Hilarion meets with newly-appointed Luxembourg’s Ambassador to Russia

On 1 November 2016, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, met with H.E. Mr. Jean-Claude Knebeler, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to the Russian Federation.

They were joined at the meeting by Mr. Philip Champion, a staff member of the DECR Secretariat for Inter-Christian Relations.

Metropolitan Hilarion warmly greeted the guest and congratulated him on his appointment as head of Luxembourg’s diplomatic mission in Moscow. Mr. Knobeler said he appreciated the opportunity to meet with the DECR chairman.

Metropolitan Hilarion and Mr. Knobeler discussed various issues of mutual interest.

To conclude the audience, the DECR chairman presented Luxembourg’s Ambassador with a memorable gift.
