On September 29, 2016, the participants in the Youth Theological Meetings, who are on a visit to Russia to familiarize themselves with the system of theological educations in the Russian Orthodox Church, arrived in Nizhny Novgorod. The event was organized by the Churches in Europe working group of the St. Petersburg Dialogue forum. Earlier the guests visited Moscow.

The participants were taken on a tour of Nizhny Novgorod Seminary. The saw the church of St. Alexis of Moscow, training facilities, the museum and library. The German students also visited the Monastery of the Epiphany. After that they met with teachers and students of the seminary.

The trip to Nizhny Novgorod concluded on September 30 with a visit to the Monastery of the Ascension.

On October 1, the program for the German guests continued in St. Petersburg. They visited St. Petersburg Academy and Seminary, where they met with Archpriest Vladimir Khulap, pro-rector for training, and students. Father Vladimir informed them about the educational process in the schools. The German guests also had a talk with students.

In the afternoon, the guests went to the St. Alexander Nevsky Lavra of the Holy Trinity. They also visited the St. Isaac Cathedral, the church of the Saviour-on-the-Blood, the Catholic church of St. Catherine and made a tour of the city center.

On October 2, the German guests were present at the Sunday services in the Cathedral of Our Lady of Kazan and visited the Catholic and Protestant parishes. Their program concluded with a trip to Kronstadt, where they visited the Navy Cathedral of St. Nicholas the Wonder-Worker.
