On August 29, 2016, His Beatitude Rostislav, Metropolitan of the Czech Lands and Slovakia arrived from St. Petersburg to Valamo Island.

The delegation accompanying the Primate of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia includes Archbishop Michael of Prague and the Czech Lands, Archbishop George of Michalovce and Kosice; Archimandrite Seraphim (Shemyatovsky), rector of the Moscow Representation of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia, Archpriest Nikolay Lishcenyuk, rector of the Karlovy Vary Representation of the Russian Orthodox Church, Hieromonk Alexander (Galushka), secretary of the Moscow Representation of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia, and Archdeacon Maxim (Durila), a cleric of the Diocese of Presov.

The guests are accompanied by Bishop Tikhon of Podolsk, vicar of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.

Upon his arrival, His Beatitude Rostislav was welcomed by Bishop Pankraty of Troitsk, abbot of the Valamo Patriarchal Monastery of the Transfiguration of the Lord, and Hegumen Mefody (Petrov), director of the Orthodox Cultural and Educational Center ‘The Light of Valamo’.

In the course of their pilgrimage to Valamo on August 30, His Beatitude and the delegation accompanying him venerated the shrines of the Valamo Monastery, visiting the Skete of All Saints, the Skete of Our Lady of Smolensk, as well as the St. Nicholas and St. Vladimir Sketes.

In the morning of August 31, the Primate of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands of Slovakia and his delegation departed for St. Petersburg.
