Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, greeted the head of the Armenian Apostolic Church with his 65th birthday. The text of the message is given below.

HIS HOLINESS KAREKIN II

SUPREME PATRIARCH AND CATHOLICOS OF ALL ARMENIANS

Your Holiness,

Please accept my greetings on the occasion of your 65th birthday!

Been a faithful servant of Our Lord Jesus Christ from your youth up, you have become a true “labourer together with God” (1 Cor 3:9). The years of your Primatial ministry have been marked by the spiritual flourishing of the Armenian Apostolic Church and by the growth of its authority among its numerous flock both in Armenia and in other countries, as well as by its return to the almost two-thousand-years-old Christian tradition. Noting with pleasure an unalterably high level of cooperation between the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and the Moscow Patriarchate, I sincerely hope that these fraternal relations will continue to develop successfully.

Wholeheartedly wishing Your Holiness good health, prosperity and God’s abundant help in your Primatial ministry, I remain

with love in the Lord,

  /+Hilarion/

Metropolitan of Volokolamsk
