His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia expressed his condolences over the earthquake in Ecuador.

His Excellency Mr. Rafael Correa Delgado, President of the Republic of Ecuador

Your Excellency, dear Mr. President,

I was grieved to learn about the devastating earthquake in Ecuador that had claimed the lives of over two hundred and thirty people. On behalf of the Russian Orthodox Church, I would like to extend to you and to all people of your country my profound and sincere condolences.

May the Merciful Lord grant rest to the souls of those killed and the soonest recovery to the injured, and May He give strength to those who are working selflessly to overcome the consequences of this natural disaster.

I wish to Your Excellency and to all citizens of Ecuador spiritual strength, courage, patience and fortitude in this ordeal.
