On March 31, 2016, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate department for external church relations (DECR), met with Serbia’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic, at the DECR.

During their talk, which was held in a warm atmosphere, they discussed a wide range of issues concerning various aspects of the Russian-Serbian relations. Mr. Decic thanked the Russian Orthodox Church for her weighty contribution to consolidation of fraternal relations between the two Churches and between the peoples of Serbia and countries of the Moscow Patriarchate’s canonical responsibility and for her invariable support for preservation of the Serbian religious heritage in Kosovo and Metohija. They also discussed the progress made in the implementation of the joint project for decorating the interior of the St. Sava Church in Belgrade.

Participating in the meeting were also Serbian Ambassador to Russia Slovenko Terzic and Archpriest Igor Yakimchuk, DECR secretary for inter-Orthodox relations.
